Chemistry and Materials
Materials and transformations unit (UMET)
Research unit - UMR 8207
Our research covers a wide range of scientific topics in the field of materials science, such as synthesis, shaping and functionalization of materials, study of deformations and transformations under various stresses, characterization of structures/microstructures, study of microstructure/properties relationships in relation to conditions of use...
Our unit is composed of six teams developing highly experimental research combined with multi-scale modeling / simulation studies. The research objectives of these teams are quite diverse and cover both fundamental and applied aspects.
The fields of study include materials for mechanical use, therapeutic materials, stimulable materials, food and biomaterials, surface treatment and functionalization, behavior under irradiation, dehydration and grinding, fire behavior, and even the understanding of the behavior of minerals in the earth's mantle or in extraterrestrial environments. The fields of application are thus varied, with many connections with other disciplinary fields (geophysics, pharmacy, biology-health, mechanics, ...). We are open to all academic and industrial collaborations and propose services in line with our expertise.
