Analytical platform (PFA)

Platform

Description

Platform missions:

• Provide UPJV laboratories with a coherent set of “heavy” equipment in the field of mass spectrometry (MS) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) structural analysis;

• Support their regional, national and international research programs;

• Provide researchers with our know-how in MS and NMR, especially for the implementation of specific analytical methodologies (characterization of natural or modified oligosaccharides, study of the biosynthesis pathways of natural substances from plant or microbial biomass, identification of drug degradation products or electrolytes used in batteries, deformation of complex mixtures, studies of new galenical formulations, etc.);

• Integrate into intra- and inter-institutional federative structures: Institut de Chimie de Picardie (EN 3085 🡭);

• Train and mentor staff (ITRF, EC), PhD students and post-docs in their research on the techniques accessible to the platform;

• Teaching and training (2nd and 3rd cycle students, CNAM auditors and staff of public and private institutions);

• Lead collaborative R&D contracts and services with companies and academic structures.

Expertises

Skills

• Mass Spectrometry Analysis:
o Determine molecular weight, elemental composition and check the structure of molecules;
o Detect, characterize and measure molecules in complex mixtures (biomarkers, metabolites, synthetic impurities, degradation products, electrolytes and battery gases...), by implementing couplings with liquid chromatography (LC/MS) and gas chromatography (GC/MS).

• Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Analysis:
o Analyze samples in solution (liquids) and solids (powders and gels);
o Identify molecules;
o Determine the structure of molecules.
