FiberTech Lille

Platform

Description

FiberTech Lille platform is a technological platform dedicated to the design and manufacturing of innovative optical fibers. We possess state-of-the-art equipment dedicated to the realization of optical fibers (conventional, microstructured, topographic, twisted, millimetric, multicore fibers....) and to the development of different complementary ways of synthesizing materials for photonics applications. We develop simulation tools allowing the feasibility study of optical fibers according to their theoretical characteristics. We can intervene at all stages of the design of a new optical fiber. We are open to all academic and industrial collaborations and propose services in line with our expertise.

Equipments

FiberTech Lille brings together in one place state-of-the-art equipment dedicated to the production of conventional and microstructured optical fibers (drawing towers and clean room drawing) including the manufacture of doped silica glass. The platform is equipped with functionalization and post-processing equipment (a fleet of arc and CO2 laser welders, Bragg grating inscription benches), allowing the production of high value-added fiber optic components: Bragg gratings, fiber tips, beam combiners, mode adapters, etc. The platform also has a set of characterization tools (scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffractometer, index profile measurements, lasers and optical sources, optical spectrum analyzers, OTDR, a system for measuring light scattering on preforms and optical fibers) which in themselves constitute an access point to the platform for the characterization and evaluation of new optical fibers.
